Hello friends…I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, aside from the 49er’s losing, it was a fun and eventful one around our house! Our little girl turned 3 and we had a birthday party extravaganza….princess themed of course 🙂 I’m excited for this weeks blog post as it is a metaphor that I think might help others if you are someone who gets your feelings hurt if your work is every criticized by other photographers or if you are wondering why your not booking as many clients as you feel you may deserve to be. I spend a lot of time thinking about my work and how it is viewed by others. What makes one client decide that you are a good fit to photograph their wedding or portraits but another decided that you are not. I think there is a deeper psychology to it then just the obvious. After beating myself up and thinking over and over again how I could appeal to the masses I came to the realization that maybe that is not whats in the cards for me. At least not right now. And then it hit me…photography is just like singing, which is something that I also love to do, just for fun, every photographer has their own unique voice. It may not appeal to everyone. One person may hear your singing and hate it but the person right next to them may hear it and think it is the most beautiful thing that they have ever heard. And it’s okay. Your voice is yours and yours only. No one else can sing like you. If you are passionate about what you do and you are doing it for the right reasons, then there is so much beauty in that and it will always show through in your images and strike someones cord. So my advice to myself and to anyone out there that is learning to find their voice and their vision in this world, is to keep searching, keep dreaming, keep practicing and soaking up the beauty around you, keep learning and keep giving and never let anyone tell you that your voice is not beautiful…
Shanel and Rae were married at the oh so beautiful Casa Real, Ruby Hill Winery. It was my 1st time shooting a wedding at this great location and I really enjoyed it! The staff was terrific and very on top of everything and it made the day super smooth 😉 Shanel and Rae hired me back in 2010 so it really felt like we got to know each other and spend some good time together over those couple of years. When the day finally arrived for their wedding I was super excited to see everything finally come together. Anytime you have a 2 large families coming together to form 1 it is always a great time…laughter, music great food and love! Thank you Shanel and Rae for being so beautiful inside and out….enjoy!

Larry and Anke were married in October at the beautiful Hakone Gardens in Saratoga. The wedding was a bit different from most weddings that I’ve photographed, Anke is German and her family is in Germany and Larry is from the bay area originally, so they had already had a ceremony back in August in Germany, so this was actually just a reception and celebration for the family and friends that couldn’t make it to Germany. It was small and intimate and in a beautiful setting. Hakone Gardens is a photographers playland with lush green everywhere and water surrounding beautiful gardens. We had a really wonderful and relaxed time and I thank larry, Anke and there families for letting me capture their beautiful day and best of luck to the happy couple!
Drew and Laura came all the way from Phoenix to get married at city hall. And I really don’t blame them! It is by far one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. We started the day with some getting ready shots, then moved to City Hall where a small group of friends and family gathered for the ceremony. After that we ended the day at The Embarcadero. It was a picturesque San Francisco day and we got some wonderful shots! Thanks you two and congrats!
You know when you meet a couple who compliment each other so well and whose zest for life just jumps right out at you?? Well, that is exactly how I felt about Andre and Sonda….the love and appreciation that they have for life is the same kind that they have for each other. So beautiful and so true that is spills out all over the place 🙂 They were married on a beautiful June day at the georgeous Foxtail Golf Course and Wedgewood Banquet Center. Family and friends gathered to hear them speak there own written vows to each other. Then party down at the reception! What a super fun bunch and a beautiful couple. I was honored to be a part of the day and wish them a long and happy life together!
Ricky and Christina were married in April at the beautiful St. Pius Church in Redwood City. With the reception to follow at The Marriott in San Mateo. Christina looked very glamorous and Ricky handsome of course. They had a large and very fun wedding party. Not to mention a really fantastic Mariachi band! We had a wonderful time at their wedding and the day went smooth as can be. Congratulations to Ricky and Christina!
